Kurdish protesters in Halle demand action for besieged Rojava
A Kurdish protest took place in Halle (Saale) on Saturday afternoon. Up to 140 demonstrators gathered in the market square to condemn attacks on Rojava by Syrian government forces and allied groups. The protesters held signs, including one that read, 'Rojava is dying in silence.' They demanded an end to the violence in the region, where the Kurdish city had already endured a 19-day siege without electricity or water.
Participants called for the protection of civilians and urged that Kurdish rights be recognised in Syria’s new constitution. They also pushed for the preservation of Rojava’s autonomous self-governance. Some critics at the rally accused the German federal government of misleading the public about a deal with Syrian strongman Jolani.
The demonstration highlighted ongoing concerns over the humanitarian crisis in Rojava. Protesters insisted on international action to safeguard the region’s autonomy and civilian population.
