Kyrgyzstan launches nationwide quest for a new national anthem
Kyrgyzstan to Compose New National Anthem, Emphasizing Unity and Heritage
Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev has ordered the creation of a new national anthem, as announced by the government press service and reported by Vesti.kg.
A special interagency commission, led by State Secretary Arslan Koichiev, will oversee the selection of the best submissions. The Ministry of Culture has been tasked with organizing a nationwide competition and assembling creative teams, including poets, composers, arrangers, and choir directors. The project will be implemented through a state procurement process.
The anthem must meet strict criteria: it should be solemn, emotionally powerful, and easily memorable, reflecting the nation's history, the unity of its people, cultural traditions, and deep patriotism. The lyrics must be written in pure Kyrgyz, free of foreign loanwords or borrowings.
The most promising entries will be submitted for approval to the Jogorku Kenesh, Kyrgyzstan's parliament.
Funding for the initiative will come from the 2026 republican budget, covering authors' fees, studio recordings, and expert evaluations.
