Labor Day marches unite workers in Germany's May 1 celebrations
The German Trade Union Confederation (DGB) and its affiliated unions have called for demonstrations on Labor Day this Friday, May 1. The event will kick off at 11:00 a.m. with a rally at Steintorplatz, marking the start of the march, which will conclude at the Market Square with a large May Day gathering. At 11:45 a.m., Katharina Brederlow, the city's executive councilor for education and social affairs, will address participants. The keynote May Day speech will be delivered at 12:30 p.m. by Bodo Ramelow (The Left), currently Vice President of the German Bundestag. The rally will be followed by the DGB's traditional May Day celebration at the Market Square.
