Late-night Berlin brawl turns violent after pregnant woman is targeted
A late-night altercation on Maxstraße in Berlin’s Wedding district escalated into violence involving two women and a group of men. Police intervened after one of the women, visibly pregnant, faced verbal abuse and a physical confrontation broke out at around 10:30 p.m. The incident began when two 35-year-old women became involved in a heated argument. One reportedly shouted insults at the other, drawing the attention of several men nearby. The group then surrounded one of the women and started yelling at her.
As officers arrived, a 33-year-old man violently resisted their attempts to control the situation. He assaulted police and grabbed a vest from an officer during the struggle. Reinforcements were called in to de-escalate the confrontation, but the group scattered, leaving the 33-year-old behind. He was apprehended after a physical struggle that left one officer with minor injuries. Police documented the incident and ordered both women to leave the scene. The 33-year-old was taken into custody for identification before being released. The case has since been transferred to a specialised unit at Police Directorate 1 (North) for further investigation.
The altercation resulted in minor injuries to an officer and the temporary detention of one man. Authorities are now examining the circumstances, including the verbal abuse directed at the pregnant woman. No further arrests have been reported at this stage.
