Spiders Studio Confirms Closure in Social Media Post
Legendary RPG studio Spiders shuts down after 16 years of hits and misses
Media outlets had previously reported on the potential shutdown amid financial troubles at publisher Nacon.
In a statement, company representatives apologized for their prolonged silence, explaining that they themselves had been left in limbo and had only now received confirmation of the studio's liquidation.
Spiders has ceased operations immediately. Planned additional content will still be released—but without the studio's involvement—through Nacon. The developers thanked players for years of support and directed all further inquiries to the publisher.
Earlier, Nacon had considered selling the studio. The company is now facing the worst crisis in its history. In late February, Nacon—along with several of its studios, including Cyanide and Kylotonn—filed for court-supervised restructuring after its parent company, Bigben Interactive, struggled with debt obligations. The procedure allows for a temporary freeze on debts while attempting to stabilize the business, according to vkplay.
Founded in 2008, Spiders was best known for titles like Bound by Flame, The Technomancer, GreedFall, and Steelrising. Nacon acquired the studio at the height of its success in 2019. Its most recent release, GreedFall 2: The Dying World, however, proved to be a commercial failure.
