Lindsey Horvath seeks reelection in L.A. County's heated District 3 race

Lindsey Horvath will run for reelection in L.A. County’s District 3 supervisor race. She announced her bid in early February 2023 after choosing not to challenge Mayor Karen Bass. Three challengers—Tonia Arey, Tomáš Sidenfaden, and Carmenlina Minasova—are now vying for the same seat.

Horvath has focused her campaign on tackling homelessness by addressing its root causes. Her approach contrasts with her opponents’ proposals, which lean toward stricter enforcement and alternative shelter solutions.

Arey, a realtor, argues for stronger public safety measures and revised housing policies. Sidenfaden, a software developer, supports data-driven strategies to improve efficiency in homeless services. Minasova, a Valley advocate, pushes for community-based interventions tailored to local needs. The race highlights sharp divisions over how to handle homelessness and public safety. Each candidate offers a distinct vision, setting the stage for a competitive election.

Horvath’s decision to stay in the supervisor race means voters will choose between four candidates with contrasting priorities. The outcome will shape policies on homelessness, enforcement, and housing in District 3. The election results will determine which approach gains traction in the coming term.
