Man critically injured in violent supermarket parking lot assault
A 38-year-old man was discovered with serious head injuries on a supermarket car park in Residenzstraße just before 11 a.m. Emergency services rushed him to hospital for urgent treatment. Police have since launched an investigation into the violent incident.
The victim was found at around 10:45 a.m. on the parking lot with severe injuries. Paramedics quickly arrived and transported him to a nearby hospital for medical care.
A 52-year-old man was identified as the alleged attacker. Officers took him into custody and processed his details. During questioning, he submitted to a voluntary breath test, which revealed a blood alcohol level exceeding 2.4 per mille. Police Directorate 5 (City) has now taken charge of the case. The investigation will focus on charges of grievous bodily harm.
The suspect remains in police custody while inquiries continue. The victim’s condition is being monitored in hospital. Authorities have not yet released further details on the circumstances leading to the attack.
