Media Camp 2026 Draws Record Crowd to Berlin's Biggest Media Gathering
Media Camp Hits Record Attendance as Aspiring Talent Flocks to Industry Despite Job Cuts
A record number of participants—800 registrations, a 50% increase over last year—are set to attend this year's Media Camp, marking the highest-ever turnout of emerging talent eager to break into the media industry. The surge in interest is striking, coming at a time when the sector has been dominated by headlines of sweeping layoffs. Yet enthusiasm for journalism, media management, marketing, and the profession's many other facets remains undiminished.
Media Camp 2026 will take place on April 23 and 24 at Berlin's Kulturbrauerei. Over 40 leading industry experts will share their expertise in panel discussions, workshops, and ask-me-anything sessions. The event kicks off on April 23 with an exclusive media tour, offering behind-the-scenes access to the Berliner Morgenpost, Die Zeit, and Media Pioneer.
Among the highlights are two ask-me-anything sessions: Isabell Beer and Isabel Ströh—named NDR/Funk Journalists of the Year 2025—will reveal what it takes to become an investigative reporter. Zeit Online editor-in-chief Jochen Wegner will provide insights into the daily workings of his newsroom. Pascal Biedenweg of Berliner Morgenpost/Funke Mediengruppe will explore how newsletters are making journalism more personal again. And freelance journalist Veronika Völlinger will lead a workshop introducing five OSINT tools to elevate investigative research.
Admission is free for students, volunteers (Volos), and trainees. The event is supported by Aldi Süd, Bayer, Funke Mediengruppe, ING, SAP, P&G, and Wort & Bild Verlag.
Media Camp is organized by Oberauer Media, the publishing group behind kress.
