Mexico strengthens diplomatic ties with Costa Rica and Switzerland in new talks
Mexico’s Foreign Minister Roberto Velasco has held talks to strengthen ties with both Costa Rica and Switzerland. The discussions focused on deepening cooperation and expanding diplomatic relations in the region.
On Monday, Velasco spoke with Costa Rica’s newly appointed Foreign Minister Manuel Tovar. He also met with Switzerland’s ambassador to Mexico, Pietro Piffaretti, to explore new areas of partnership.
Velasco began the week with a phone call to Manuel Tovar, Costa Rica’s recently named Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship. During the conversation, he congratulated Tovar on his new role. The two officials discussed ways to boost collaboration between their countries.
Mexico’s Foreign Ministry (SRE) has emphasised its commitment to closer relations with Costa Rica. The goal is to create benefits for both nations and the wider region. Later, Velasco met with Pietro Piffaretti, Switzerland’s ambassador to Mexico. Their meeting centred on bilateral cooperation and how to deepen ties between Mexico and Switzerland. Both sides explored opportunities for joint initiatives in trade, diplomacy, and cultural exchange.
The talks mark a push by Mexico to expand its international partnerships. With Costa Rica, the focus remains on regional cooperation and shared development goals. Meanwhile, discussions with Switzerland aim to build stronger economic and diplomatic links.
