Mexico's President Sheinbaum Takes Control of Key Rail Operations

President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo announced that in the coming weeks, operations of the Felipe Ángeles Train will be fully transferred to the National Infrastructure Fund, which will review existing contracts amid the possibility that the government may acquire land adjacent to the stations.

"In any case, if there is a desire to change that contract or the conditions under which it operates, we will examine whether the terms of the contract are being met or not, and decisions will be made from there. But we cannot simply say, 'I no longer want this contract, and it ends tomorrow.' No, everything must be done within the framework of the law," she stated.

During her morning press conference on Tuesday, April 28, the president highlighted the federal government's recovery of the Suburban Train's operations, which she announced last week during the inauguration of the Lechería–Felipe Ángeles International Airport line.

At the National Palace, Sheinbaum Pardo affirmed that her administration seeks to reclaim the trains for public operation and for the people of Mexico. She also reported that Buenavista Station will undergo renovations, as trains heading to northern Mexico will depart from there.
