Drunk driver crashes car near Bastheim, flees scene unharmed
A 32-year-old man crashed his car on State Road 2292 early this morning. The incident happened near Bastheim, between Wollbach and Wechterswinkel, at around 3:45 a.m. Authorities later found him at home under the influence of alcohol. The driver veered off the road while travelling on State Road 2292. His vehicle continued for roughly 450 metres before coming to a stop in a field, heavily damaged. Despite the crash, he left the scene without injuries.
Police located the man at his home address shortly afterwards. A blood sample was taken, confirming alcohol in his system. His driver’s licence was confiscated on the spot. An investigation has now been launched. He faces charges for endangering road traffic and leaving the scene of an accident.
The driver remains under investigation for multiple offences. His blood sample and confiscated licence will form part of the evidence. Authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
