Missing autistic teen found safe in Berlin after public tip leads police to him
A 16-year-old teenager has been missing since Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 12:45 PM. That day, his mother was traveling with him on the M1 tram in Berlin-Pankow, heading toward Am Kupfergraben. At the Rathaus Pankow stop, his mother got off and only realized too late that her son had remained on the tram.
The missing teen has early-childhood autism and requires assistance. He is not carrying any identification, keys, or a mobile phone. Notably, due to his condition, he often pulls down his sweater to look at and show his shoulder—a distinctive behavior.
Emergency responders located the teenager safe within the city. Following a tip from a member of the public, police officers found the missing 16-year-old this afternoon at the S-Bahnhof Grünau. They took him into protective custody and shortly afterward reunited him with his mother.
