Osnabrück Launches Public Participation Process for New Housing Action Plan

At the end of February, the city of Osnabrück kicked off a public participation process to develop a new Housing Action Program. The goal is to work alongside residents, the city council, and housing industry stakeholders to create forward-looking, demand-driven solutions and strategies for ensuring adequate housing in Osnabrück.

On Tuesday, March 24, at 5 p.m., an information event for residents, community groups, working committees, and advisory boards will take place in the lecture hall of the Volkshochschule (Adult Education Center) on Bergstraße. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the progress made so far, review current plans, and contribute their own ideas and suggestions.

As part of the participation process, separate events will also give policymakers and housing sector representatives a platform to share their perspectives and proposals. To ensure broad engagement, the city is offering both in-person and digital participation formats alongside this series of public events. Residents can submit their opinions, ideas, and recommendations via Osnabrück's dialogue and participation portal at dialog.osnabrueck.de. Additionally, the Housing Contact Office serves as a central point of contact for questions and input, reachable by email at [email protected] or by phone at +49 541 323-3601. Registration for the Volkshochschule event is also requested through these channels.

The public can take part in the process until March 31. Afterward, the findings will be compiled and presented to the city council committees for further deliberation.

Osnabrück places great emphasis on the collaborative input of all stakeholders. Only by working together, the city stresses, can sustainable solutions be developed to meet the challenges of providing affordable, socially equitable housing.
