Pensioner's Family Takes Matters Into Own Hands, Prosecutor Intervenes in Shilka Ceiling Crisis
In Shilka, a pensioner and her family faced a crumbling ceiling in their home since July 2025. Despite reporting it to the local administration, the issue remained unresolved until the prosecutor's intervention.
The son of the pensioner, frustrated with the lack of action, spent 13,000 rubles to replace the ceiling himself. Following the prosecutor's intervention, the social security administration fully compensated the tenant for the repair expenses. The prosecutor's office issued a decree to eliminate violations and initiated an administrative offense case against the head of the administration under Article 7.22 of the Russian Federal Law on Administrative Offenses (KoAP). This article pertains to violations against usage rules, management regulations, or accounting rules for residential spaces, typically targeting responsible officials in housing management and administration.
The administrative offense case against the official is currently under consideration. The municipal administration in Shilka eventually compensated the housing tenant for the repair expenses at the request of the prosecutor's office, following the tenant's long-standing complaint and the son's personal intervention.
