Pickpocket's wild Berlin police station escape ends in injury and recapture
A 35-year-old man attempted a dramatic escape from a Berlin police substation at Kottbusser Tor on Wednesday. The suspect, arrested on an outstanding warrant for pickpocketing, fled while being processed inside the station.
The man climbed through a window onto a balcony before jumping down onto Adalbertstraße below. He landed on a steel bollard, suffering severe pelvic injuries. Despite the fall, he managed to run toward a connecting path leading to Dresdner Straße.
Police officers quickly pursued and recaptured him. Paramedics provided initial treatment at the scene before transporting him to a hospital for further medical care.
The suspect remains in custody while receiving treatment for his injuries. Authorities have not released further details about the incident or his current condition.
