Prominent figure opposes World Cup boycott and criticizes ICE actions
A prominent figure has spoken out against calls to boycott the Football World Cup. He also criticised the actions of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), describing their images as deeply unsettling. The individual recalled past debates about the World Cup in Qatar. He maintained that football should be played without political statements. Defense Minister Boris Pistorius (SPD) had earlier shared a similar stance on the issue.
He argued that the conduct of ICE would not be accepted by political leaders. He added that such behaviour would be unthinkable among professional police forces, like those in Germany. His position remains clear: football should take priority over political gestures. He sees no reason to support a boycott of the tournament. His criticism of ICE underscores his broader concerns about ethical standards.
