Regensburg commissioners explore Weiden’s history on a day of appreciation and connection

County Councilor Tanja Schweiger organized an outing for senior and disability commissioners from the Regensburg district to Weiden in the Upper Palatinate on September 12, 2025. Around 30 commissioners accepted the invitation and spent the day exploring the historic town and enjoying a catered lunch.

The day began at the county council office in Regensburg, where the commissioners met before embarking on their trip. They were greeted with a small gift from the department's employees. The commissioners, who voluntarily look after matters relating to senior policy, inclusion, and barrier-free access in their communities, were then treated to a historical city tour in Weiden. After the tour, they enjoyed a catered lunch at the 'Ratskeller Weiden' restaurant.

Following lunch, participants had free time to visit factory outlets or stroll through the old town of Weiden. The excursion was organized by the Department of Help in Difficult Life Situations – Care Support Point Plus, though the leader's name is not mentioned. Everyone returned safely to the county council office in Regensburg by 6 pm.

Councilor Tanja Schweiger thanked the commissioners for their valuable commitment in voluntary work. The outing to Weiden provided an opportunity for the commissioners to bond, relax, and gain new insights into the historic town, while also expressing appreciation for their dedicated service.
