Rhineland-Palatinate Launches Interactive Vote Match Ahead of 2026 Elections
Koblenz. On March 22, Rhineland-Palatinate will hold its state parliamentary elections. To help voters make an informed choice, the popular Vote Match tool (Wahl-O-Mat) will go live online on February 19. Those who want to experience the Vote Match in person can do so as it tours cities and towns across the state. In Koblenz, it will stop at the State Library Center / Rhineland Regional Library on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., visitors can engage with the "Sticker Vote Match"—an interactive format for the 2026 state election that lets participants explore political and social positions in a hands-on way. The Democracy Booth, hosted by the state parliament, will also welcome guests with a diverse range of information, interactive activities, and fascinating insights into the work of the legislature and the upcoming election.
The goal is to inform first-time voters and engaged citizens, encourage electoral participation, and strengthen awareness of democratic engagement.
"Libraries see themselves as living spaces for democracy, which is why we are proud to host this tour," says Hans-Günter Scheer, Deputy Director of the State Library Center. "Libraries provide free, accessible, and non-commercial access to knowledge and information. In doing so, we support people in forming their opinions and contribute to the democratic process."
The tour is organized by the State Agency for Civic Education Rhineland-Palatinate (LpB) and the Rhineland-Palatinate State Parliament, in cooperation with the Federal Agency for Civic Education (bpb) for the Vote Match offerings.
Bernhard Kukatzki, Director of the LpB, explains: "For years, the Vote Match has been a trusted tool for comparing party positions with one's own views. This election tour offers an excellent opportunity to engage with the political issues shaping our state in a playful, interactive way."
Hendrik Hering, President of the State Parliament, emphasizes: "The state parliament is the heart of our parliamentary democracy—where laws are passed, people's interests are represented, and political responsibility is assumed. But democracy is more than just a political system; it is a way of life that begins in everyday actions. Democracy is not a given—it thrives on dialogue and the participation of each and every one of us."
Local partners, including members of the "Democracy Wins!" state alliance and other institutions, will support the event at each stop.
