RTL Deutschland Bolsters Legal Team Ahead of Sky Takeover with Key Hire
RTL Deutschland is strengthening its legal team ahead of its planned takeover of Sky. The company has appointed Kristina Freymuth, currently General Counsel at Sky Deutschland, to a senior role. She will join as Deputy General Counsel once the deal completes. Freymuth played a key part in securing unconditional approval from the European Commission for RTL’s acquisition of Sky. Her work helped clear a major regulatory hurdle for the transaction. Andreas Fischer, COO of RTL Deutschland, called her an outstanding lawyer and a strategic partner for the project.
She brings deep expertise in pay-TV business models, anti-piracy measures, and managing complex rights tenders. In her new position, Freymuth will report directly to Ralph Sammeck, RTL Deutschland’s General Counsel. She has also expressed enthusiasm about taking on this significant role in the media sector. The appointment comes as RTL Deutschland prepares to finalise its acquisition of Sky. Freymuth’s experience in media law and regulatory approvals will support the company’s legal strategy. Her arrival marks a key step in the takeover process.
