Russia unveils new rules for foreign companies returning to its market
Russia’s Ministry of Economic Development has announced changes to the rules for foreign companies returning to the country. The move comes as many European firms remain in limbo after the conflict in Ukraine began. Before the war, numerous foreign businesses had already exited the Russian market. Since then, others have stayed but paused operations, waiting for the situation to stabilise. Alar Karis noted that these companies are holding out for a resolution before resuming work.
Maxim Reshetnikov, the head of the ministry, confirmed that new conditions would apply to any firms seeking to re-enter. The adjustments aim to address the current economic landscape. The updated requirements will affect foreign businesses looking to restart operations in Russia. Companies from Europe and beyond are expected to review their plans in light of the changes. The ministry has not yet detailed the specific measures.
