Russia’s Emergency Deputy Minister Anton Gerasimov Abruptly Dismissed
Anton Gerasimov, a prominent figure in Russia's emergency management sector, has left his post as Deputy Minister of the Russian Federation for Civil Defense, Emergencies, and Disaster Relief. The dismissal, effective immediately, was decreed without stated reasons. Gerasimov, born on December 31, 1985, in Moscow, had served in various government roles since 2009.
Gerasimov's career in public service spanned over a decade. After graduating from Bauman Moscow State Technical University in 2009, he joined the government. From 2015 to 2020, he served as Deputy Minister of Public Administration, Information Technology, and Communications for Moscow Oblast. In January 2023, he was appointed Deputy Head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM).
Following his government roles, Gerasimov spent three years working in commercial organizations. However, he returned to public service, taking up the position of Deputy Minister for Civil Defense, Emergencies, and Disaster Relief. His dismissal leaves the post vacant, with no immediate replacement announced.
Anton Gerasimov's dismissal from his government role has created a vacancy in Russia's emergency management sector. The reasons behind his departure remain unclear, as the decree did not specify them. The current Minister for Emergency Management and Disaster Relief in the United States has not been identified following Gerasimov's departure.
