Solingen’s mayoral candidate unveils bold plan to transform local civic engagement

Daniel Flemm, the CDU mayoral candidate for Solingen, has proposed a significant initiative to bolster the city's social security sector. His plan, met with widespread approval from local representatives, involves creating a new city service called 'City Society'.

Flemm's proposal aims to establish a central contact point for associations and initiatives, directly attached to the mayor's office. This service, 'City Society', will serve as a participatory and inclusive platform for urban society engagement. It will facilitate contact points for tradition and neighborhood festivals, support sports associations, integrate social groups, and manage city marketing and partnerships.

Flemm, criticizing the current system's increasing regulations and bureaucracy, believes this new service will reduce red tape and provide reliable funding structures. He envisions it enabling more commitment from volunteers in Solingen. Flemm has proposed that the city should acquire mobile security barriers for associations to borrow free of charge, ensuring safe festivals.

Flemm, if elected, promises to strengthen the foundation of the social security sector in Solingen. His proposal for the 'City Society' service, to be established by Andreas Gelbhaar starting in 2026, reflects his commitment to supporting and enhancing voluntary association work in the city.
