Sverdlovsk Leader Honors Local Officials on Self-Government Day

Speaker of the Sverdlovsk Regional Legislative Assembly Lyudmila Babushkina congratulated residents of the region on Local Self-Government Day in an address published in Oblastnaya Gazeta. She emphasized that cooperation between federal, regional, and local authorities helps effectively resolve many issues that directly impact the quality of life for people in Sverdlovsk Oblast. Below is the full statement by the head of the regional parliament.

Dear residents of Sverdlovsk Oblast, leaders and employees of local government bodies, deputies of representative councils, and veterans of municipal service!

On behalf of the deputies of the Sverdlovsk Regional Legislative Assembly, I congratulate you on Local Self-Government Day!

Local self-government is one of the most vital institutions of public authority, tasked with developing municipalities and assisting residents in addressing pressing concerns. Local authorities ensure the stable operation of housing and utilities, implement urban improvement projects, and foster the growth of social infrastructure in cities and villages.

Cooperation between federal, regional, and local governments enables the effective resolution of many issues that directly affect the well-being of people in Sverdlovsk Oblast. The Legislative Assembly pays close attention to joint efforts with local authorities to advance municipal development. Representatives of local governments participate annually in the work of the conciliation commission during the formation of the regional budget. Under the auspices of the regional parliament, the Council of Representative Bodies of Municipal Formations and the Deputy Vertical association—comprising deputies at the local, regional, and federal levels—operate actively. This provides local officials with the opportunity to engage in the legislative process and help lawmakers make decisions informed by on-the-ground experience.

Dear friends! I congratulate you on Local Self-Government Day! I extend my deepest gratitude to the leaders and staff of local authorities for their significant contributions to the development of municipalities across the Middle Urals! Thank you for your dedication to making our cities and rural areas beautiful, comfortable, and conducive to the lives and aspirations of the people of Sverdlovsk Oblast!

I wish you good health, happiness, prosperity, and new achievements for the benefit of our homeland and our local communities!
