Taxi Driver Racially Insulted and Attacked - Taxi Driver Racially Abused and Assaulted by Passenger in Erfurt
A taxi driver in Erfurt was allegedly assaulted and racially abused by a passenger in the early hours of Saturday. The incident took place in the city’s Krämpfervorstadt district, leaving the driver with minor injuries. The altercation began when the 51-year-old German passenger refused to pay the fare. An argument broke out, during which the suspect—reportedly intoxicated—struck the driver in the face. He also directed racial slurs at the victim, a 35-year-old of Iraqi origin.
Police confirmed the suspect has a prior conviction for assault. Authorities have since charged him with multiple offences, including bodily harm and hate speech.
The driver received medical attention for minor injuries sustained in the attack. The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue. Charges have been formally filed in connection with the assault and racial abuse.
