Teen critically injured in Geestenseth scooter crash as bridge vandalism strikes hours later

An 18-year-old rider suffered serious injuries after crashing his light moped on Wehdeler Straße in Geestenseth on Saturday evening. The incident occurred just before 6:35 PM, leaving the scooter damaged and the teenager hospitalised. Meanwhile, in a separate event later that night, a woman’s car was struck by objects thrown from a bridge in Midlum.

The crash took place when the 18-year-old, riding toward Wehdel, lost control of his Alphamotors scooter. He swerved, veered into oncoming traffic, and collided with another vehicle. Emergency services rushed him to Bremerhaven-Reinkenheide Hospital, while the scooter sustained around €1,000 in damage.

Hours later, at roughly 10:42 PM, a 43-year-old woman from Wurster Nordseeküste reported that her car had been hit by projectiles thrown from a pedestrian bridge along Wänhöden Way in Midlum. The objects struck the front of her vehicle but caused no visible harm. She told police she had seen children near the bridge, who fled before officers arrived. Authorities are now appealing for witnesses in both cases. Anyone who may have been endangered by the moped crash or has information about the Midlum incident is urged to come forward. Geestland Police have requested that those with relevant details contact them directly.

The injured rider remains under medical care following the crash. Police continue to investigate the cause of the moped accident and the identity of those responsible for throwing objects in Midlum. Both incidents remain under active review by local authorities.
