Teen driver crashes Toyota on wet Rhön road after losing control
An 18-year-old driver crashed his Toyota on a rain-soaked road in the Rhön region on Thursday. The accident occurred after the car skidded out of control in a right-hand curve. Authorities believe excessive speed was the main cause of the collision.
The crash took place at around 5:45 p.m. on the district road between Oberwildflecken and Haselbach. The driver, a Romanian citizen, lost control of the vehicle before it slid across the lane. The car then struck a guidepost and collided with a tree.
Volunteer firefighters from Haselbach arrived to secure the scene and clear the roadway. The wrecked vehicle was later towed away. The driver suffered only minor injuries in the incident.
The accident caused several thousand euros in property damage. Investigators have pointed to speeding as the likely reason for the crash. No other vehicles were involved in the collision.
