Teen entrepreneur wins £5,000 to expand her Irish dance school for kids

Cerys, a student from Leicester College, has won a £5,000 investment to grow her Irish dance school, Little Leprechauns. The funding came after she pitched her business idea at the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy competition. Her plan focuses on expanding classes and promoting healthy lifestyles for children aged 6 to 15. Cerys launched Little Leprechauns to share her passion for international Irish dancing. She currently runs taster sessions and holiday clubs in primary schools. Her goal is to use dance as a way to tackle childhood obesity while making fitness fun.

The £5,000 prize was funded by David Humpston, the 2014 winner of the same competition, who chose to pay it forward. Cerys secured the investment after presenting her business plan to a panel that included entrepreneur Peter Jones CBE. He praised her talent and the strength of her proposal. Cerys completed the Peter Jones Business Enterprise BTEC National Foundation Diploma at Leicester College. She is the first student from the college’s Enterprise Academy to win the national competition. With the funding, she plans to conduct market research, buy merchandise for her students, and eventually turn *Little Leprechauns* into a franchise across the UK.

The investment will help Cerys expand her dance school and hire staff to run new locations. Her long-term vision includes growing Little Leprechauns into a recognised brand nationwide. The prize also highlights the success of Leicester College’s Enterprise Academy in supporting young entrepreneurs.
