Trump slams German Chancellor Merz over Iran's nuclear ambitions
Former U.S. President Donald Trump sharply criticized German Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) amid escalating tensions over the U.S. and Israel's conflict with Iran.
"German Chancellor Friedrich Merz thinks it's acceptable for Iran to have a nuclear weapon," Trump claimed Tuesday on his personal platform. He dismissed Merz as clueless, adding, "If Iran had a nuclear weapon, the entire world would be at its mercy. I am doing what other nations or presidents should have done long ago about Iran."
Trump went on to say it was "no surprise that Germany is struggling so badly—both economically and in other ways." His remarks came after Merz had criticized U.S. war and negotiation strategies on Monday.
