Two mysterious car fires strike Waldshut district in one morning
Two separate vehicle fires broke out in the Waldshut district on Sunday, May 17. The incidents occurred in Albbruck and Laufenburg, with no injuries reported in either case. Authorities are now examining the causes behind both blazes.
The first fire started at around 5:45 a.m. in a carport on Dorfstraße in Albbruck. A car and two garbage bins were severely damaged, though the exact cost remains unclear. Volunteers from the local fire department quickly arrived and stopped the flames from reaching nearby buildings.
Later that morning, at approximately 9:00 a.m., a BMW caught fire on Stadtweg in Laufenburg. The driver managed to contain the initial flames with a fire extinguisher before firefighters fully put out the blaze. Investigators suspect a technical defect caused this fire, which likely resulted in a total economic loss for the vehicle. Authorities continue to probe the cause of the Albbruck fire.
Both incidents caused significant damage but resulted in no injuries. The Laufenburg fire is believed to have originated from a technical fault, while the Albbruck case remains under investigation. Fire crews successfully prevented further spread in both situations.
