Violent Görlitzer Park clash ends with Taser deployment and arrest
A violent altercation in Görlitzer Park, Kreuzberg, led to police intervention after two men clashed on Sunday. The confrontation escalated when one of the men, a 43-year-old, attacked officers and threatened them with broken glass. He was later taken into custody and hospitalised for psychological distress. The incident began as a dispute between the 43-year-old and a 32-year-old man. During the argument, the older man struck the younger victim in the head with a glass bottle.
Upon police arrival, the suspect became aggressive. He smashed two bottles, brandished the broken glass, and demanded officers shoot him. When he began harming himself, officers deployed a Taser to subdue him.
The man was restrained and taken into custody. Due to his 'acute psychological distress,' he was then transported to a hospital for treatment. The 43-year-old remains in hospital care following the confrontation. Police have confirmed his arrest and the use of a Taser to neutralise the threat. The 32-year-old victim’s condition has not been publicly disclosed.
