Wiesbaden approves major expansion for Erbenheim's overcrowded primary school
Wiesbaden’s city administration has given the green light to expand the Justus von Liebig primary school in Erbenheim. The project aims to meet rising demand, especially from families in the new Erbenheim-Süd housing area. A detailed implementation plan has now been approved. The school will grow with a two-story permanent extension instead of a modular build. Officials chose this approach for better integration and long-term durability. The new wing will feature two classrooms on each floor, along with a specialized learning space, an after-school care room, and restrooms.
The expansion will also increase the school’s capacity from five to six streams. This change supports full-day operations and addresses the growing number of students. Additionally, the cafeteria will be enlarged to handle higher meal demand.
Before construction begins, the proposal must first be reviewed by the finance committee. Final approval will then come from the city council. Once completed, the expansion will provide more classrooms, specialized learning areas, and after-school facilities. The project is designed to support the school’s long-term needs and accommodate the rising student population. The next step depends on the finance committee’s review and the city council’s final decision.
