Wisconsin GOP pushes controversial audit to secure 2024 presidential election integrity

Michael Gableman, the author of a proposal, has sparked debate in Wisconsin. His five-step audit plan aims to ensure only U.S. citizens vote in the 2024 presidential election. The Assembly Committee on Campaigns and Elections held a hearing on AB 595, a bill that could significantly alter how the state's Elections Commission handles election results and complaints.

The proposed legislation, AB 595, mandates several changes. It requires the Elections Commission to make final decisions on voter roll complaints and prevents it from dismissing its own alleged violations of the Help America Vote Act. The bill also introduces a non-citizen voter audit and modifies data sharing agreements, voter roll maintenance, and voter list pricing.

Republicans in the Wisconsin Capitol are driving these changes. Kyle Koenen, Policy Director at The Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty, supports the bill. He believes these alterations will restore faith in Wisconsin's electoral system and guarantee that only U.S. citizens cast ballots in the live election results, complying with federal and state election laws.

AB 595, if enacted, will bring substantial changes to Wisconsin's Elections Commission. The bill, authored by Michael Gableman and supported by Republicans, aims to strengthen voter roll integrity and citizen confidence in the 2024 election results and the electoral process.
