Woman arrested after vandalizing SPD campaign stand in Berlin
A 53-year-old woman was arrested in Berlin’s Gropiusstadt district on Saturday after vandalising an SPD campaign stand. The incident escalated when she stepped into traffic, forcing drivers to brake and swerve abruptly. The trouble began when the woman argued with two party volunteers at the stand. She then grabbed a wooden slat and struck an election poster, damaging it. Witnesses reported that she also threatened a 54-year-old man during the confrontation.
Police arrived quickly and took her into custody. Due to her erratic behaviour, officers later transported her to a hospital for evaluation. While no injuries were reported, her actions caused significant disruption on Johannisthal Chaussee. Authorities have now charged her with property damage, threats, and coercion.
The woman remains under investigation following the incident. Her arrest came after she damaged party property and endangered road users. Police continue to review the case for further action.
