Yakutsk to Expand School No. 17 with New Annex by 2027

YAKUTIA.INFO. A working meeting on a key project for Yakutsk's Oktyabrsky District—the construction of a new annex to School No. 17—was held following a public report session with local residents. According to city mayor Yevgeny Grigoryev, the expansion will dramatically improve learning conditions for hundreds of children.

Construction of the new three-story school building, designed to accommodate 275 students with a total area of 3,800 square meters, is set to begin in 2026 and be completed in 2027.

The project's design and cost estimates are currently under expert review, with revisions being addressed.

Funding for the project has already been allocated in the budget. The construction is part of Yakutsk's master development plan through 2030.

Grigoryev emphasized the social importance of the project: "The school, originally designed for 350 students (or 700 in two shifts), now enrolls 1,572 children. The new annex will significantly reduce overcrowding and create modern, comfortable conditions for learning."

In parallel, the city administration will explore including the main school building—constructed in 2002—in the federal capital repair program. This would allow synchronized renovations and a comprehensive upgrade of the entire educational complex.
