Afghan man arrested in Hamburg over March sexual assault case
A 35-year-old Afghan man has been arrested in Hamburg in connection with a sexual assault that took place earlier this month. The suspect was detained in the Bramfeld district on March 20, 2026, following an investigation into an incident reported on March 8 in Hamburg-Horn.
The case began when authorities launched an inquiry into a sexual offence allegedly committed in Hamburg-Horn on March 8, 2026. Detectives from the Specialized Unit for Sexual Offenses (LKA 42) carried out extensive investigations to identify the suspect.
An arrest warrant was later issued by the Hamburg Public Prosecutor's Office. Officers from the Wandsbek precinct, supported by additional uniformed personnel, apprehended the 35-year-old Afghan national at his residence in Bramfeld. He was immediately taken into pretrial detention. At present, no other individuals have been linked to the crime, and the investigation remains active.
The arrested man is the sole suspect in this case so far. Authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the assault. Further updates will depend on the progress of the ongoing investigation.
