Berlin hostage ordeal ends after police stun aggressive baseball bat attacker
A disturbing incident unfolded in Berlin-Mariendorf on Ascension Day after a 33-year-old man allegedly locked a visitor in his flat and threatened him with a baseball bat. Police intervened following desperate calls for help from the trapped 50-year-old, who shouted from a window of the multi-family building. The ordeal began when the host reportedly grew aggressive after both men had taken drugs. He refused to let the visitor leave the apartment and brandished a baseball bat as a threat. Fearing for his safety, the visitor barricaded himself in the bathroom before shouting for help from the window.
When officers arrived at the scene, the 33-year-old attempted to attack them with the same weapon. One officer responded by deploying a stun gun after issuing a clear warning. The suspect was then subdued and taken into custody. Authorities later transferred the man to a psychiatric ward at a local hospital. Investigators have not yet confirmed the nature of the relationship between the two men involved.
The suspect remains under medical supervision in a psychiatric facility. Police continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the confrontation, including the events leading up to the violent altercation. The visitor was unharmed but left shaken by the experience.
