Berlin police arrest violent man at Alexanderplatz after cobblestone threat
A 32-year-old man was arrested at Alexanderplatz S-Bahn station in Berlin’s Mitte district on Tuesday evening. Police intervened after he allegedly harassed passersby and ignored an existing exclusion order from the area. The incident began around 7:40 p.m. when officers approached the man for disruptive behaviour. Instead of complying, he picked up a cobblestone and threatened the police. An officer then drew a conducted electrical weapon (CEW) and ordered him to drop the stone.
The suspect eventually released the stone but resisted further. During the arrest, he attempted to bite an officer’s hand. He was quickly handcuffed and taken into custody for identification and a blood sample. The man was held overnight to enforce the exclusion order and released the following morning. Authorities have referred the case to a precinct under Police Directorate 5 (City) for investigation.
The suspect now faces multiple charges, including assaulting law enforcement officers, aggravated assault, and simple assault. Police will continue their investigation into the incident at Alexanderplatz.
