Berlin police seek help finding missing 53-year-old man with cognitive impairments
Berlin police are searching for a missing 53-year-old man named Michael Köhler. He was last seen leaving his residential care facility in Schöneberg on Tuesday evening, May 12, 2026. Authorities have now released photographs of him and are asking the public for assistance in finding him. Köhler disappeared after leaving his care home on Fuggerstraße at around 7:50 p.m. He is described as 185 cm tall (approximately 6’1”) with a slim build. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a blue winter jacket with red stripes on the sleeves, a blue T-shirt, and blue jeans. Police also noted he may have been wearing a wristband on his right wrist.
Köhler has severe cognitive impairments due to a previous stroke and cerebral haemorrhage. His condition has raised concerns about his ability to navigate safely on his own. Authorities have not yet provided further details on the circumstances of his departure from the facility.
