Wales Launches AI-Powered Start-Up Accelerator for Ambitious Founders

A new 10-week virtual Start-Up Accelerator Programme is now open for applications in Wales. Aimed at early-stage entrepreneurs, the initiative promises expert coaching, networking, and a focus on artificial intelligence (AI) to turn innovative ideas into thriving businesses. The deadline for submissions is set for 31 March 2025. The programme, running from 13 May to 18 July 2025, targets Welsh entrepreneurs with pre-revenue concepts capable of generating over £1 million in annual turnover by 2029. Participants must also demonstrate the potential to create at least ten full-time jobs within the same period. Selected applicants will gain access to a mix of webinars, masterclasses, and one-to-one mentoring led by seasoned entrepreneurs and growth specialists.

This year’s accelerator places a strong emphasis on AI, offering dedicated workshops. Topics include AI-driven market research, operational efficiency, and creative innovation. Beyond training, participants will benefit from peer networking, PR opportunities, and a high-profile awards ceremony at the programme’s close. Richard Morris, Programme Director of the Business Wales Accelerated Growth Programme, highlighted the initiative’s role in providing essential tools and support networks. He stressed its value in helping innovators build sustainable businesses. Richard Selby, Chair of the Institute of Directors (IoD) Wales, praised the accelerator as a vital platform for nurturing Wales’ next generation of business leaders. Andrea Jones, a 2024 participant, won the Accelerator Champion Award for her AI-focused business, VisVira. Her success story underscores the programme’s potential to fast-track promising ventures.

The accelerator offers a structured path for Welsh entrepreneurs to develop scalable businesses. With a focus on AI, expert mentoring, and networking, the programme aims to drive economic growth and job creation. Applications remain open until 31 March 2025, with the first cohort beginning in mid-May.
