Armed robbers target Berlin jewellery store, injuring employee in broad daylight
A jewellery store in Berlin’s Schmargendorf district was robbed at gunpoint on Monday afternoon. The incident took place at around 2:10 p.m. on Berkaer Straße, leaving one employee injured and another deeply shaken. Police are now searching for two suspects who fled the scene in a car. Two men entered the store and threatened a 64-year-old employee with a firearm. One of the suspects overpowered her, causing her to fall and injure her arm. Paramedics later took her to hospital for treatment.
A second employee witnessed the robbery but was not physically harmed. The suspects stole several pieces of jewellery before escaping on foot through a courtyard toward Hundekehlestraße. They then got into a vehicle and drove away in the direction of Heydenstraße. No shots were fired during the incident. The case is now under investigation by a specialised unit within Police Directorate 2 (West).
Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the criminal investigation division of Police Directorate 2. The injured employee remains in hospital, while the second worker is receiving support after the ordeal. The stolen items and the suspects are still at large.
