Berlin trial begins for €5.6 million cash heist suspects this week

Berlin (dpa/bb) – Three men accused of stealing millions will stand trial at Berlin Regional Court on Tuesday (9:30 a.m.). The suspects, aged 28, 29, and 37, are alleged to have stolen €5.6 million from a cash-in-transit company's vault four months ago, working with additional accomplices.

Prosecutors claim two of the defendants were employees of the targeted firm at the time. According to investigators, they packed the cash into bags on December 21, 2025, while the third defendant allegedly assisted in loading the loot into a getaway vehicle. The stolen money was then divided and stashed at various locations.

The prosecution has requested the confiscation of approximately €2.1 million already seized, along with the forfeiture of an additional €3.4 million in illicit proceeds. The court has scheduled two trial dates so far, with proceedings set to continue until April 28.
