POL-MA: Wiesloch/Leimen/Rhein-Neckar District: Theft of Grave Ornaments from Multiple Cemeteries—Police Appeal for Witnesses
Bronze thieves target cemeteries in Wiesloch and Leimen
Between Friday, March 20, 2026, and Tuesday, March 24, 2026, unknown individuals stole bronze ornaments from several gravesites across two cemeteries.
After thieves took a bronze grave lantern worth several hundred euros from a cemetery in Leimen between Friday and Monday, multiple thefts were also reported at a cemetery in Wiesloch-Baiertal. There, between approximately 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 21, 2026, and 4:00 PM on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, unknown perpetrators stole a roughly one-meter-tall rose sculpture and an 80-centimeter-tall Madonna statue from gravesites, causing total damages exceeding €5,000.
Investigators are examining whether the incidents are connected. The Wiesloch police station is handling the case and urges witnesses, as well as any additional victims who have not yet filed a report, to come forward by calling +49 6222 57090.
