Chaotic Berlin carjacking ends with crash and hospitalised suspect
A suspected carjacking occurred in Berlin's Rudow district yesterday morning. Around 8 a.m., a 38-year-old taxi passenger reportedly fell—or possibly jumped—from the moving vehicle while traveling on the A113 motorway near the Johannisthaler Chaussee exit.
When the taxi driver and a 40-year-old motorist stopped to assist the man, he suddenly sprang up, forcibly entered the woman's car, and then abruptly exited. He then snatched her handbag with such force that she was knocked to the ground. The suspect seized the vehicle's keys, got back into the car, and fled via the exit onto Johannisthaler Chaussee toward Rudower Straße.
At the intersection of Johannisthaler Chaussee and Glockenblumenweg, he crashed into traffic bollards, sustaining head injuries. Emergency responders took him to a hospital, where he was admitted for treatment. Due to suspicion of drug influence, blood samples were taken for testing.
The investigation remains ongoing.
