President Sheinbaum highlighted that Ramírez Amaya "has been a tremendous help to me in the presidency. She is a colleague I have known for many, many years."

Who Is Leticia Ramírez Amaya?

A native of Mexico City, she is a primary school teacher and a graduate of the Escuela Nacional de Maestros, with studies in Social Anthropology and training in Senior Public Management.

She worked as an educator for over 12 years in public schools in western Mexico City and has more than 25 years of experience in public administration.

What Roles Did She Hold in AMLO's Government?

During the administration of former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, she served as Director General of Citizen Affairs for the Presidency, responsible for receiving and addressing requests and demands from citizens across the country.

In 2022, she was appointed Secretary of Public Education, replacing Delfina Gómez Álvarez.

"We have known each other for 28 years. She is someone of absolute trust—prepared, honest, and principled, just like Delfina Gómez. She was also a leader in Section IX of the teaching union, representing both the SNTE and the CNTE. So, another teacher will now be in charge of the SEP," the former president noted.

In November 2024, Sheinbaum named Leticia Ramírez as Coordinator of Intergovernmental Affairs and Social Participation.

"I have appointed Leti Ramírez, who was Secretary of Education and now works with me in the presidency, coordinating various projects. She will oversee the comprehensive campaign program and addiction support initiatives, linked to mental health," Sheinbaum stated.

The president emphasized that Ramírez would coordinate the campaign with different institutions and also address support for young people and adults struggling with addiction.
