Many have fallen victim: These stars have also been targeted by Deepfake porn - Deepfake porn surge exposes global crisis for women in the spotlight

Deepfake pornography continues to target high-profile women across the globe, sparking outrage and calls for action. Recent allegations by German actress Collien Fernandes against her ex-husband have brought renewed attention to the issue. The problem extends far beyond celebrities, affecting politicians, influencers, and ordinary women alike.

Fernandes publicly accused her former partner, Christian Ulmen, of creating deepfake pornographic material using her likeness. Her case follows a growing trend of women in the public eye facing similar violations. Since 2020, over 100 well-known women—including Taylor Swift, Scarlett Johansson, and Emma Watson—have been linked to deepfake porn cases.

Politicians have not been spared either. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Crown Princess Amalia of the Netherlands have also fallen victim to manipulated explicit content. Actress Scarlett Johansson has spoken openly about feeling powerless to stop the spread of such material online. Meanwhile, Wednesday star Jenna Ortega recently deleted her X account after discovering sexually explicit deepfakes of herself circulating.

The issue has made headlines at least eight times in recent years, with victims spanning the US, UK, India, and South Korea. While high-profile cases draw media attention, the impact on women outside the spotlight can be equally devastating.

As more women speak out, the scale of the problem becomes harder to ignore. Their voices highlight the urgent need for stronger protections against deepfake abuse. Without concrete measures, the spread of such material is likely to persist, affecting both public figures and private individuals.
