Elderly Couple Outsmarts Scammers with a Clever Password Trick
Weilerswist (news release)
On March 26, a married couple reported an attempted fraud at the police station in Euskirchen.
The 74-year-old man from Weilerswist came across an enticing offer on a website: deposit €10,000 and receive an €8,000 return. After registering, he received a callback from a customer service representative who assisted him in completing the transaction.
His 71-year-old wife, however, found the process and the promised return suspicious. She decided to go to the bank, halt the transfer, and file a fraud report.
In this case, the scammers walked away empty-handed—and the husband got a new password: "Iaskmywife26032026!!!"
