"Surely we're still allowed to say that..." – Responding to Discriminatory Remarks
Free May 2026 Workshop Teaches How to Counter Discriminatory Language
How to address discriminatory, populist, and anti-democratic statements in everyday life and educational settings is the focus of a two-part workshop led by argumentation trainer Luis Caballero on May 6 and 8, 2026, held online and at Haus Wasserburg. Spaces are still available for this sought-after training!
Vallendar/Koblenz. In his workshop on countering far-right rhetoric, Luis Caballero equips participants with strategies for confidently handling discriminatory and anti-democratic statements.
The first session takes place online on May 6 from 5:45 to 8:15 PM, covering the basics of casual prejudiced remarks, their underlying ideologies, and the barriers that often prevent people from speaking up. The second part, held in person on May 8 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM, focuses on practical exercises and discussions to develop concrete responses. Role-playing scenarios provide a safe space to test these approaches.
The goal is to build confidence in argumentation and maintain the ability to act decisively. Participants are encouraged to share their own experiences.
The workshop is free of charge, counts as a Juleica refresher, and is organized in cooperation with the Youth Office of the Koblenz Pastoral Region. Registrations can be completed at www.haus-wasserburg.de under "Events." Further details, including a report on the last training session, are available under "News."
