German online media reshuffles in February 2026 as Bild holds top spot despite traffic dip

Germany's online media landscape saw sharp shifts in February 2026, with some outlets gaining significant traffic while others faced steep declines. Bild kept its position as the country's most-visited news site, despite a drop in monthly visits.

The latest figures show Bild remained Germany's top online media platform in February 2026, even after an 11.7% fall in visits compared to January. This decline was partly attributed to fewer days in the month, though the site still recorded a slight 0.4% increase year-over-year. Competitors like ntv, t-online, Web.de, and Welt all experienced larger drops, ranging from 10.1% to 14.1%.

Several outlets bucked the downward trend. **Eurosport** saw the biggest jump, climbing 35.0% from January to February. **Sportschau** followed closely with a 34.3% rise. **inFranken.de** also performed well, up 15.4%, while **zdfheute** grew by 9.4%. Smaller gains were recorded by **Rheinische Post** (6.4%) and **Merkur.de** (5.5%). Not all platforms fared as well. **wetter.de** suffered the most, losing 43.9% of its January traffic in February.

The data highlights a mixed picture for German online media in early 2026. While Bild maintained its lead, other major sites saw declines, and niche or sports-focused platforms gained ground. The shifts suggest changing reader habits, though no direct comparisons were made to international competitors.
