Berlin police hunt knife-wielding thieves after violent shop robbery
Berlin’s criminal police have released surveillance images of two suspects linked to a violent theft in Prenzlauer Berg. The incident took place at a beverage store on Schönhauser Allee on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, shortly before 1 p.m. Two men entered the shop, where one concealed two bottles of vodka inside his jacket. A 53-year-old female employee noticed the unpaid alcohol and tried to stop them from leaving.
One suspect shoved her aside and forced the door open, but a colleague blocked the second man. The first suspect then pulled out a knife and threatened the staff before both fled in an unknown direction. Authorities are now asking for public help to identify the men. Witnesses or anyone with information have been urged to come forward.
The investigation is ongoing, with police relying on surveillance footage and witness accounts. Anyone with details about the suspects or the incident is encouraged to contact Berlin’s criminal police.
