Sudden Blaze Engulfs Carport as Hedge Fire Sparks Major Emergency Response in Maulburg
A hedge fire in Maulburg escalated into a larger blaze on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, prompting a significant firefighting operation.
Around noon, flames broke out in a hedge along Am Platz Street. According to police, the fire then spread to an adjacent carport, severely damaging stored items such as gardening tools and trash bins. A parked car was also affected.
Volunteer firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control, preventing it from reaching a nearby house and averting even greater damage.
Preliminary police estimates place the property damage at approximately €20,000. Investigators suspect a gas-powered weed burner may have ignited the fire.
The Schopfheim police station has taken over the investigation.
